    About me

    Hi! My name is Amairaly McIver; people call me Ama. I have been in the Cosmetology industry for 5 years. Attended Paul Mitchell the School in Oviedo, FL in 2018. Since then it has been an amazing journey growing as hair stylist working at both, private and franchised salons. Color and hair cutting are my favorite services to do at the salon.
    I feel fortunate to be able to impact people’s life in a positive way. No matter what I am trusted with, from a simple hair wash to a complex balayage color service I am committed to give my guest the best possible experience, keeping high quality and affordability as a priority.

    Advice

    Before your appointment

    It is recommended to find some inspirational pictures of the style you would like to have done, that way you can be on the same page with your hair stylist. A picture is worth a thousand words!!!

    Clean hair

    I encourage to come to you appointment with clean hair. It is a myth that the dirtiest the better. Excessive build up and oils affect the application. However, please do not come with wet hair if you are going to get a color service since water molecules would as well affect the application and we would have to dry it before we start setting us behind schedule.

    Wet hair

    Never go to bed with wet hair. Moisture and sweat during the night hours while we are laying down sleeping are the perfect ground for fungus (dandruff) to grow specially if you have a lot of density. This is the reason why in many cases people experience itchiness and unpleasant odor on the scalp. Always dry it!

    Shampoo

    Make sure you are using a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Sulfates are harsh on the hair (increases the ph) and strips the color. You have invested getting an amazing hair color, so you should protect it using a professional hair care line. Read the ingredients on the back of the bottle to make sure does not include sulfates. Some of my favorite brands I have worked with are: Defy Damage from Joico, Acidic Bonding shampoo and conditioner from Redken, Living Proof, and Ouai.

    Conditioner

    Always use a leave in conditioner independently of your hair texture. Leave in conditioners provide moisture, reduces frizziness and some even offer heat protection for the the hair.

    Protect

    Last, but not least, make sure to use a heat protectant before using any hot tool including blow dryers, curling or flat irons. High temperatures will burn your hair and even change your hair color.
